The Season 2 2020-21 Regional Championships are moving ONLINE!

Qualified players from regions that participated in Season 2 2020-21 will compete in an ONLINE SUPER REGIONAL CHAMPIONSHIP event, with the Top 10% earning seats to the National Championship Finals at the 2020 WLPC!

DATE and TIME: Sunday, March 28th at 5:00pm EDT

LOCATION: WTP Online Website

MULTI-TABLE EVENT

Starting Chips: 25,000

Blind Times: 15 minutes

Breaks: Every 4 levels

Late Registration: 30 minutes***

***Please do not wait until the last minute to register! Players will be able to start registering approximately 8 hours before game time on Sunday, March 28th.

PRIZES

Finish in the Top 10%: Seat to National Championship Finals

1st Place: 3 Nights Hotel, 2 Access Passes to the WLPC

2nd Place: 3 Nights Hotel, 1 Access Pass to the WLPC

3rd Place: 2 Access Passes to the WLPC

4th, 5th, 6th, 7th, 8th Place: 1 Access Pass to the WLPC

 

The 2020 World League Poker Championships is tentatively scheduled for the Fall of 2021. We will keep you informed about the status of this event as soon as we have more details.

CREATING A WTP ONLINE ACCOUNT

If you already have a WTP Online account, you're good to go!

 

If you do NOT have a WTP Online account, simply go to the WTP Online website, click the Sign Up button, and choose to create a Free or PRO account. Follow the steps until your account is complete.


PLEASE NOTE: When creating a WTP Online account, enter your current WTP username as your WTP Online Player Name. Once complete, add your Online Player Name to your WTP player profile. This will ensure you receive points for non-championship Online games.


PLEASE DO NOT WAIT UNTIL THE LAST MINUTE TO CREATE YOUR WTP ONLINE ACCOUNT!

 

Special qualifications must be loaded on our end into your Online account for you to be able to play. Failure to create your account before the day of the event may lead to you missing out – please help us with this.

REGISTER AND PLAY

After ensuring you're qualified, simply log into the WTP Online website, click the PLAY NOW button, and click the Tournament tab. Once the Online Regional Championship event is listed and registration has opened (on March 28th), you may register.


Make sure you are logged into the WTP Online game lobby at least 5 minutes prior to the Online Regional Championship start time. If you already registered, your tournament table will open the moment the game starts.


If the game doesn't automatically load, click the Tournament tab, highlight the Online Regional Championship event, make sure you are registered, and then click the Take My Seat button.

How to Qualify

There are 5 ways a player can qualify for a Regional Championship event.

 

-- Top 20 Tavern Ranking (at end of regular season)

 

-- Top 10 finish in a Tavern Championship game

 

-- Top 30% of Regional Ranking

 

-- Tavern Guest Seat: Each tavern receives a free Regional seat that can be awarded to anyone who has played at least 5 games at that bar during the previous season.

 

-- Win an Early Strikers event on Tavern Champ night.

 

Regional seats are non-transferable and can only be used by players who qualify.

The Prizes

Prizes at Regionals can include Access Passes to the WTP OPEN or World League Poker Championships, Major Event packages, travel money, and even cash! 

 

Prizes are awarded based on the number of bars that make up your Regional Championship.

 

The Top 10% finishers at each Regional Championship receive seats in the National Championship Finals at the 2019 WLPC, where big prizes are on the line!

 

PLUS, all final table finishers (Top 8) receive a plaque and a Regional Championship Final Table t-shirt!

Host a Regional Event

If there are 5 or more World Tavern Poker bars in your area and you'd like to host a Regional event, we want to hear from you! You must be able to seat and serve at least 120 players comfortably.

 

The benefits: the potential for hundreds of hungry (and thirsty) poker players in your bar or restaurant! Plus, if you already host weekly World Tavern Poker games and run a successful Regional event, even more players will return for your weekly tournaments!

Most regions hold a TD Smackdown tournament exclusive to current or previous-season Tournament Directors for their hard work all season long. Check your regional page to see if your area is holding such an event.

The winner of a TD Smackdown event earns a plaque from World Tavern, along with a Party & Poker Access Pass to the OPEN or WLPC!
